Why Buying Local Matters More Than Ever

Why Buying Local Matters More Than Ever

Thoughts from the orchard on everyday choices and real impact.

Lately, it feels like the cost of everything is going up. Whether it's groceries, gas, or the little extras, every dollar starts to stretch further, and each choice carries more weight.

In times like these, buying local becomes more than a nice idea. It becomes a meaningful way to invest in the people and places around you.

At Wooden Gate, that choice supports something real. It supports the folks who grow the fruit, press the cider, tend the orchard, bottle by hand, and care for this small farm near Pilot Mound.

Our ciders are made entirely from Manitoba fruit; a mix of apples we grow ourselves and fruit we gather from wild spaces, backyards, and small farms across the province. Everything is fermented, bottled, and packed right here at the cidery.

We work with the seasons, keep things small-scale, and stay focused on sustainable growing practices, thoughtful fermentation, and staying connected to the land and the local people doing the work.

When you choose local, you're helping keep that cycle going. You're investing in a slower, more intentional way of doing things.

Supporting local really does matter, and we're grateful every time you make that choice.
